In The story of Almost to Freedom I learned that Ms. Rachel and her daughter Linda are trying to get freedom so one day in the night they escape for freedom to find lindys dad. When they find there dad by the river they leave in a boat to a little town and. They go to the store nearby. Soon the owner from the store gives them a secret room to stay in while they go to an other freedom part. After some day Mr. Henry and Ms. Rachel with there daughter Linda were in there basement and suddently two men came down the stairs and tells them that if they wanted to go to North freedom with them and they all answered of course YES. The author had the ideas to write this book because he had gone to a Museum of International folk Art in New Mexico Santa Fe. In 1800s through 1900s there was a display of black rang dolls. Also the Author wrote about the persons that knew the entire system of escape routes and safe house and some details remain unknown to this day. Also the Author wrote about many people that went to freedom and never came back to see there family. People that were caught going to freedom were returned to there master and were punished severely. Some slave that worked for the master had reached to freedom
